The Nomad PDU and your Fridge relationship - how to get the most out of your fridge and power source. The most common issue people have is understanding that a recreational fridge operates within well defined voltage ranges, how long will a fridge run and why does you fridge stop working. The nomad runs from 9volt to 12.6 volt. Your fridge has low med high or eco settings, and or low voltage cut out settings , these all effect your fridge running time and the voltage they will work with. More instructional tutorials at nomadpdu.com.au and this is covered in the nomad pdu instructions..
Solar Panels and your Nomad pdu, what types are suitable? using unregulated solar panels directly to your nomad and use the MPPT inside to regulated lees than or equal to 200 watt connecting to the red and black poles. Or use a regulated panel with a maximum regulated output of 25amp. DO's and dont's, and what you can expect to pay for panels. Always follow the instructions for regulated or unregulated panels. This video explains how to determine the run times of a fridge on any power source, when you fridge will cut in and out, and the different in all the variables that will effect the number of hours a fridge will run. nomadpdu.com, nomadpdu.com.au
The Nomad PDU Ciga DC 5 or 10 amp 12.6 volt grab and go charger options, or Anderson to DC configuration 10 or 20 amp gives you the options to not only charge your nomad , but run you fridge off the dcdc when connecting the Nomad as the source. This means that you can run the nomad completely flat and all the fridge will see is 12.6 volt. use a DC option that is higher than the max draw of your fridge on start up, an easy rule of thumb is if your fridge typically 50 litre or under draws less than 5 amp then a 5amp ciga dc is fine or use the 10 or 20 amp dc options if you are at all concerned. A 100 litre fridge might draw 9-10amp on start up and then back off when reaching cold. www.nomadpdu.com.au
